St Katharine's Dock

En lite undangömd plats som kanske inte är den första man besöker som turist är St Katharine’s Dock alldeles intill Towern och Tower Bridge. St Katharines Dock är en marina dit många båtturister kommer sommartid. Marinan är mycket större än man tror och upptar ett område motsvarande åtta fotbollsplaner. Vill man se stora fina båtar är det verkligen det här stället man ska besöka. På grund av tidvattnet i Themsen måste båtarna slussas in i marinan, vilket kan vara rätt så intressant att titta på bara det. Sommartid har marinan öppet för inkommande båtar mellan klockan 06.00 och 20.30.

Förutom en massa fina båtar finns det en hel del restauranger, caféer och under sommartid uteserveringar. Vill man spendera några kronor finns det även några små affärer. Lättast tar du dig till St Katharine’s Dock med buss eller tunnelbana. Tar du bussen åker du med nummer 15 från Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus eller Trafalgar Square till Tower Hill eller RV1 från Covent Garden. Åker du tunnelbana tar du Circle eller District line och går av vid Tower Hill. 

A hidden place in London, and maybe not the first one you visit as a tourist, is St Katharine’s Dock close to the Tower and Tower Bridge. St Katherine’s dock is a marina where many boat tourists come in the summertime. The marina is much larger than you think and if you want to see big, handsome boats this is really the place to come to. Due to the tide in the Themes the boats has to be slotted in to the marina, this could be really interesting by itself to watch. In the summertime the marina is open for incoming boats between 06.00 and 20.30. 

Beyond a lot of nice boats, there are also a lot of restaurants, cafés and during summertime there is a lot of al fresco dining in the area. If you want to spend some money there is also some smaller shops. The easiest way to get to St Katherine’s Dock is by bus or by the tube. If you take the bus you go by number 15 from Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus or Trafalgar Square to Tower Hill or RV1 from Covent Garden. If you take the tube you take the Circle or District line and get off by Tower Hill.
